Opening Hearts at Outside Fest

There’s something powerful about creating a space that invites people to lead with love—and this year’s Outside Festivalproved just how transformative that can be.

Pat and Yon of Open Hearts built the festival’s main entryway from the ground up, welcoming thousands of attendees into a colorful and heartfelt experience. Their artistry set the tone for the weekend—one of unity, creativity, and intention.

Throughout the park, Pat Milbery brought even more energy as he painted live across multiple areas—including the Open Hearts activation and the Southwest Airlines space—spreading color and joy wherever he went.

Creative Moments That Stuck With Us

This weekend was filled with hands-on experiences that encouraged connection:

  • Guests painted and customized tote bags in collaboration with Smartwool, creating keepsakes that were both meaningful and functional.
  • The Color-Your-Own Hat station,  was a favorite for all ages—and a portion of every purchase went directly to SOS Outreach, supporting youth empowerment through outdoor adventure.
  • The ability to have our products all in one place, and spread positivity through products with a purpose.
  • We also got to meet the incredible youth from SOS, who reminded us of the importance of giving back to the next generation.

We were grateful to be surrounded by aligned partners like WolfgangLeave No TraceRemind Insoles, and Public Works, who all contributed to the energy of the weekend.

The Storm That Brought Us Closer

On Sunday, a storm rolled in unexpectedly. Tents flew, supplies scattered—but what happened next was unforgettable. Artists, brands, staff, and strangers jumped in to rebuild the space together. With open hearts and steady hands, we came back even stronger. It was a moment that showed what this community is truly made of.

A Lasting Message

One festivalgoer shared:

“Wearing Open Hearts feels like showing up for something bigger than yourself. You’re giving back to causes like SOS, and you’re doing it comfortably and with purpose.”

That’s what this weekend was all about—creating space for joy, action, and authenticity.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, got creative, made memories, and reminded us why this movement matters.
